Sexuality educator and author Dr. Sari Locker explains what you experience when you first start dating someone might not be a true indicator of what's to come later on. "A lot of times when people are in a new relationship they're sort of on their best sexual behavior," she says, "so that the first few times they have sex they're trying really hard to please each other, and their true likes and dislikes might not come out for months down the road. So you might think you're compatible if you first jump into it, but later say, 'What on earth was I thinking?'"

Dr. Locker has developed a quiz that new couples can take to help determine if they are sexually compatible, but she explains that it could also benefit those who have been together for years. She says, "I think the biggest issue married couples have when it comes to sexual compatibility is that they have to be able to talk about sex, and they have to understand that the assumptions they're making about their partner are not necessarily true. So, if you assume that your husband has always loved it when you tickle his toes or kiss him a certain way, maybe he's never said anything or he's afraid to say something, so you have to be willing to understand that things may be different than what you think."
