Dr. Oz

Aired on: November 5, 2010

"I am so excited to finally have you at the kitchen table!" says Rach, as Daytime Emmy®-winner Dr. Oz joins her at the kitchen table. He gets right to business and begins doling out tips for healthy eating. "Food for me is sacred," he says. "When I walk into a grocery store, I'm walking into a pharmacy."

Rachael asks what he eats in a typical day and Dr. Oz admits he is "always snacking." He brings his food with him, including 2 percent Greek yogurt with blueberries and also walnuts, an apple, soup, and salad. "If I have to give one little vice, it's [dark] chocolate!' he says. "I don't mind you cheating a little bit, but when you have milk chocolate it's not really chocolate, it's fake - it's milk fat, it's coloring, so you want to get real food."

Dr. Oz is encouraging all Americans to eat healthier and take his Just 10 Lbs challenge. "If you can lose just 10 pounds, imagine this, you'll drop heart disease [risks] by 50 percent, you'll drop osteoporosis by 50 percent, and you'll drop - believe it or not - diabetes by 60 percent," he explains. And, always pay attention to your weight and waist size, which should be half of your height, along with your cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure levels. "Those five numbers tell me how healthy you are!"
