The Biggest Loser's Jillian Michaels
This season of The Biggest Loser features some of its heaviest contestants yet, which trainer Jillian Michaels believes is just a part of the larger picture. "The country is getting bigger," she tells Rachael. "Obesity rates are becoming pandemic around the world." Jillian says that it's not just a lack of exercise that is causing scales to tip everywhere. "I think that cheap food is readily accessible, very unhealthy, and people have no idea what they're actually eating," she states. "I'm beginning to believe that personal accountability is not the problem - it's the solution and once we're educated we'll have the ability to make different choices that will bring about change."
Not everyone is a fan of Jillian's tough-love style of training (including her mom!), but she makes no excuses for pushing the contestants to their limits. "It is a matter of life and death in many of these cases," Jillian says. "You've got contestants who are 476 pounds; I would venture to say that they're 100 pounds or so pounds away from being in the grave. And you may only have a week, you might be lucky enough to have 12 weeks with them, but you have to make an impression instantly. So I don't get five or six years, or five or six months to say, 'Hey, would you please get back on the ladder?' You don't have that luxury ... that intimidation factor needs to push past and through their self-destructive behavior."
In addition to proper exercise and nutrition, Jillian is a firm believer in supplements, and explains how her QuickStart Rapid Weight Loss System works. "It's put together in a way to enhance and accelerate the effects of diet and exercise," Jillian explains. "There are hormones and enzymes that keep you fat or help you stay thin and these are designed to accelerate your natural metabolic function."
