Twenty-seven years of producing the wildly popular Howard Stern Show is sure to give Gary Dell’Abate’s enough stories for a lifetime, but it was his childhood on Long Island that provided the topic for his new book, They Call me Baba Booey. The New York Times best-selling author explains that to understand why he fits in so well with Howard, you have to first get to know his childhood. “I never knew what I was going to get when I walked in the door, and I always had to think five steps ahead, which was great [training] if you’re going to produce a radio show five steps ahead.” He includes tools in the book that can help anyone deal with family stress, and Gary says that’s something fans of the book definitely appreciate. “The one thing I haven’t gotten is somebody coming up to me and saying, ‘I had a perfectly normal childhood, what are you talking about?’”

He is signed on for about nine more years with The Howard Stern Show, so Rachael asks if he thinks he’ll get the chance to remain on the air in the mornings with this crew forever and Gary quickly replies, “I hope so!” After decades with Howard he says it’s still a dream. “I love this job. It’s my dream job!” Gary “Baba Booey” Dell ‘Abate is of course known for his amazingly vast knowledge, so Rachael invites him to play our own version of Stump the Booey!
