Men's Health's David Zinczenko
The cover of Men's Health magazine usually feature celebrities and athletes with six-pack abs, but as editor-in-chief David Zinczenko points out, the tips these stars offer are what keep guys reading month after month. "David Beckham said one of his big tips was the 'Ten Percent Rule,' he explains. "When he was 13, his soccer coach said, 'You’re never gonna succeed. You are too small and scrawny to ever make it in this sport.' And [Beckham] just figured if he pushes himself ten percent harder than everybody else - and you do that in sports, in work, in romance - that’s gonna make the difference."
David adds that Kellan Lutz of Twilight shared his tips for working out and for eating. "One of his big diet tips was that he eats everything with a fork and knife, even pizza," David tells Rachael. "Because it slows him down, and you end up taking in fewer extra calories."
One of the magazine's monthly features is the "Eat This, Not That" column that has spawned 11 books. "The food world is like a soap opera; it is riddled with evil twins," he says. "You could look at two burgers and think these are exactly alike, yet the difference is 1,300 calories." In one shocking example, David reveals that a seemingly healthy choice like a Waldorf salad at California Pizza Kitchen comes in at just under 1,500 calories! "It's over a day’s worth of saturated fat, twenty-five grams, and over a day's worth of sodium." Instead, David suggests ordering the restaurant's Barbeque Chicken Pizza, where three slices would run you only 600 calories.
