Evette's Craft Ideas for Leftover CDs, Fabrics
While Rachael is a whiz with recipes for leftover food, she turns to DIY expert Evette Rios for suggestions when it comes to reinventing leftover stuff! Get her ideas for CDs, fabric and tiles below and watch the video for a full demonstration of these tips!
CD Christmas Decorations "We're always throwing out CDs," says Evette, suggesting you transform them into holiday decorations by sticking a small light bulb in the center of the disc and stringing them in a row. "Now music can set a mood in another way!"
Fabric gift bags If you have leftover fabric from another project, you can turn it into a gift bag by using iron-on hems to create a pouch. Tie a ribbon around the top to close the custom-made bag. These can even be made in any size to suit a variety of gifts!
Tile coasters Tiles left over from bathroom or kitchen projects can easily be transformed into coasters by sticking on your favorite photos. Evette suggests having the photos printed on transfer paper by Lazertran, which can then be easily attached to the tiles. She tries it out with an image of Rachael and John! To seal an image to the tile, wipe down the tile with rubbing alcohol and then wet the print so it sticks to the tile. Let it dry, and spray with a coating of clear acrylic to add some shine.
