Mally's Surprise Grocery Shopper Makeovers
Rachael's beauty buddy Mally Roncal has pulled off surprise makeovers for women standing in line at the DMV, at the airport, and even in the carpool lane! Now she and her glam squad hit the grocery store to give unsuspecting shoppers a head-to-toe new look. Plus, she's got seven beauty shortcuts every woman should know:
Pick up the basics: “Grocery stores are a great place to get staple beauty items, things you're going to use all the time,” says Mally, who picks up matte bone eye shadow and black mascara for her surprise makeovers.
Try out new trends: The grocery store is a great place to pick up trendy items that you’re not sure will work for you. Since the makeup is reasonably priced, go ahead and try that new metallic eye shadow, for example, and find out if it will become your new favorite color.
Tips for metallics: If you have very fair skin, go for silvery tones; if you have medium skin go for gold tones; and if you are darker in complexion try copper eye shadows.
Spend time finding the right concealer or foundation : These are products that you should really take your time selecting, as the color has to match your skin perfectly. They are also two items that are worth investing in, Mally says, so you may want to leave the grocery store to shop somewhere where you can test them out and be absolutely certain they will make you glow!
Get creative with your mascara: Clear mascara can be used on your eyes, but did you know it’s also a great product for your hair? One of Mally’s secrets is to apply a bit of the eye product to control fly-aways! "If you haven't had a good haircut in a while and you've got split ends, just go right through it [with the clear mascara] and it will soothe everything out and look fresh," she explains.
Apply make-up with a cotton swab: Cotton swabs, which of course can be bought at the grocery store, are a great way to apply eye shadow or to smudge your eyeliner.
Fake eight hours of sleep: Highlight your cheek bones by using a shimmery product or a luminizer. Apply right on the cheekbones and it will reflect light to make the whites of your eyes look whiter and make your eye color pop!
