A Facebook Family Reunion
"When I was 6, my mother took my sister and left. She just separated and went her own way. I was a kid; I didn't know what was happening," says Mike, who was put into foster care and then adopted. "Even though I had a great childhood, I always wondered in the back of my mind whatever became of my sister and the cousins that I left behind ... I mean, it's been 30 years of memories that I've missed out on. That's a long time."
For the past 10 years, Mike and his wife Tammy attempted to reconnect with his family. "We were unsuccessful, we tried everything we could think of," says Mike, now 34. "We were coming up empty." Then, Tammy suggested that he change his Facebook profile to include his birth name. "Forty five minutes later I come back, and wouldn't you know it? My long lost cousin Kristie leaves me an e-mail!" Mike recalls. "I was shocked."
Adding to his astonishment, was that Kristie offered to put him back in touch with his younger sister. "That first phone call was awesome," Mike remembers. "She and I were both excited, talking about everything. Since then we've been texting, Facebook back and forth, every other day I've called ... the one thing that's left now is to finally meet her after 30 years," he says. "Just to hug her - words can not express how excited and happy I will be."
Rachael offers to make it happen and brings them together for the first time in her studio! Watch the video clip for their emotional reunion and share your thoughts on our Facebook page!
