Giving Big to One Special Girl
When Oprah's buddy Nate Berkus stops by to tell Rach how Oprah's Big Give has been inspiring viewers to help others, she decides to present a Big Give-style challenge of her own to 10 moms. Part one of their challenge is to make a difference in their community using only 40 gallons of paint. (See how they did that here.) Their special mission also includes making over the room of 10-year-old Victoria, who has struggled with cerebral palsy since birth. Watch her inspiring story, and see how the moms were able to put a smile on Victoria’s face after five weeks in the hospital.
The giving continues with the help of The Bruno Company, who gives Victoria a much-needed chairlift for her car, $1,500 raised from Victoria's classmates at a bake sale to help with medical bills, a year's worth of free groceries from Pathmark, and $20,000 in gift cards from Sears and Kmart.
"I'm sure you're going to share a lot of your great fortune back with your friends," says Rachael, who's moved to tears. "Go give something to somebody - like a hug!" she shouts.
