Glamour's Big Book of Dos and Don'ts
If someone took your picture right now, would you be considered a fashion 'do' or 'don't'? Every month, Glamour magazine sends its photographers out on the streets to take photos of unsuspecting fashion hits and misses for its column "Dos and Don'ts." After sorting through around 750 shots a month, the magazine's editors decided there was much more to it than just a column.
Glamour magazine's editor-in-chief Cindy Leive stops by to give Rachael's viewers a peek at the new book, Glamour's Big Book of Dos and Don'ts: A Fashion Guide for Women. "From those photos, you start to see that there are things that work and lessons to be learned. This book will show you how to be a 'Do.'"
Skirts
Teeny, tiny skirts like this are everywhere, unfortunately. These skirts are barely the size of a dinner napkin! Fans of shorter skirts need not worry; there is a way to wear it and still be a do. If you want to wear a short skirt, always wear tights underneath. It's much more sophisticated -- you can even wear it to the office! Also, if you're going to bare lots of leg on the bottom, keep covered up top.
Hair accessories
Oversized hair accessories like scrunchies, clips and banana clips are definitely no-no's. Stick with more subtle accents for your hair like headbands. If you're having a bad hair day, a great solution is to wear it up in a ponytail with a headband. It keeps a plain ponytail from looking too sporty, like you're heading to the gym.
Footwear
Wearing sneakers with a work outfit is so 1987 and since it's 2007, that's a bad thing. A better solution are ballet flats. They're comfortable to walk in and still stylish.
