How to Thaw Your Turkey
Rachael shows you how to complete the one Thanksgiving prep you absolutely must get done today! "No matter what size bird you are dealing with, if you are cooking a frozen turkey it needs to get out of the freezer and get into the fridge today," Rachael suggests. "Store it in the lowest part of the refrigerator, and take it out [of the freezer] today and it will be perfect by Thanksgiving day!"
To defrost your turkey closer to the holiday, fill a large mixing bowl or bucket with water and put the turkey inside. "Every 30 minutes change the water [out] for fresh," Rachael explains. "It will take 30 minutes per pound, so if you're dealing with a large bird, say 20 pounds, it's going to take 10 hours minimum to quick defrost it."
