If your kids love candy, but you don't love the idea of giving them too much sugar on Easter, try chef Rocco DiSpirito's tips for building an Easter basket that is tasty, fun and good for their health!

Peanut butter egg vs. cream eggs: "Even though the peanut butter eggs have 20 more calories and a few more grams of fat, it’s actually the healthier choice, because peanut butter happens to be good for you," Rocco says. "It’s heart healthy, there’s protein."

Healthiest chocolate options: "Dark chocolate is always the better choice," Rocco says, when selecting candy bunnies and other treats. "Chocolate covered almonds are great, dark chocolate eggs are great, and then if you want to give jelly beans to your kids, because they love jelly beans, try the all-fruit snacks. They’re made with real fruit. They actually have less processed refined sugar in them, so these will be a much better choice."

Colored eggs without the preservatives: "Boil it in hibiscus tea it’ll be bright red - there will be no artificial colors, no preservatives - nothing to worry about!" he says. And, at 77 calories with five grams of fat, Rocco says a hard-boiled egg is both festive and healthy. "That’s one of the best choices. It's Easter - [eat] eggs!"

Finish the basket with plush bunnies or chicks: Include adorable toys that your kids will have fun playing with, while saving on the calorie count!
