Welcome to Room 325
Meet Wilma Stephenson, a culinary arts teacher at Philadelphia's Frankford High School, who is making a difference in the lives of inner-city students with her tough-love approach to cooking and life. "I give a tough love approach to teaching because I believe that that's how the students learn best," says Ms. Stephenson, who's been teaching for 41 years. "When they know that you love them but you're not taking anything but the best, they're going to give you the best."
Seniors who are lucky enough to get into Ms. Stephenson's class not only graduate high school - unlike 30% of their classmates - but many also go on to receive scholarships and thrive. "I won't give up on a child. I'm never going to give up on a child," she says. "Every single person is worthy."
