David Tutera's Royal Wedding Predictions
In 1981, 750 million viewers worldwide watched as Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer. Thirty years later, the grand spectacle of a royal wedding in Britain returns with the marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton. "We’re going to get up again at six o’clock in the morning!" beams wedding expert David Tutera. "We’re going to watch this on April 29th and we are going to be glued! We want to see how this beautiful girl becomes our modern day princess. I mean, it’s a fairytale!"
David, host of My Fair Wedding on WE tv, shares why he believes Kate will be a very different bride than Diana. "Princess Di was 20," he explains. "She was young, she was listening to protocol and she was going through the Royal Family. Kate, she’s 29, she’s a woman in her own right, she has a personality and a sense of style that we see, and I think that she’ll have a lot of say. I think that she’ll want to put her stamp on how she will look, how she will act, and what she will do."
When it comes to the dress, David suggests that less might be more with Kate. "Kate is definitely going to be our modern day princess," he says, "so there will be so much less fabric; I mean, how much fabric can a girl wear when she walks down the aisle? I think we’ll be seeing a little bit more skin on Kate, but I do think there will be traditions that she keeps. I think she’ll have a very long train, because Westminster Abbey is so long in the aisle - it’s a four-minute walk to get down the aisle ... you’d better be wearing some comfortable shoes for that!"
