The pictures of food that you often see in magazines always look so mouthwatering, but as food stylist Liz Duffy reveals, most of what see you'd never want to eat! Working with real ice cream for a shot can be tricky, Liz says, so she mixes frosting from a can with a bit of confectioners sugar to get the same look without the melting. And to get the perfect looking bowl of cereal, Liz meticulously searches through cases and cases of cereal to find just the right flakes, which she then positions on top of vegetable shortening and sprinkles with old fashioned men's hair tonic to simulate milk!
Liz explains to Rachael that other items she uses in her work include vaseline, floor wax, pins, needles and toothpicks. "I feel bad for the food," Rachael jokes. "It sounds like you're torturing it!"
"You know," Liz smiles, "I haven't heard any complaints from the food!" Watch the video above to see Liz demonstrate how she uses a clothes steamer to melt cheese for hamburgers, and a blowtorch to create the perfect Thanksgiving turkey.
