Trusting Your Intuition

Trusting Your Intuition
Aired on: April 14, 2008

For newlywed Annette, making decisions can be a process filled with anguish, doubt and then regret. Whether she's making a major purchase like a bridal gown or a home or simply choosing a paint color, she often relies on friends and her husband to reach a decision, and then is rarely happy with the outcome. "I just can't make a decision. I'm just going back and forth, back and forth all the time," says Annette, whose new condo is already on the market because she's changed her mind about it.

Char Margolis, author of Discover Your Inner Wisdom, steps in to help Annette. "The most important thing to understand is we all have the gift of intuition," says Char. "When we use logic, common sense and our intuition we can make our wisest choices."

Char wants to teach Annette to use her gut so she takes her shopping to show her some decision-making tips that count on your inner voice:

Learn the four Cs. The first step to finding your intuition is to follow these simple words -- courage and confidence -- then commit to your gut and you can conquer your intuition.

Choose a quiet place to make decisions. "Be in the moment with your thoughts," Char suggests. "You ask the question -- it can be about a dress, your love life, a job -- you ask the question and you go, 'Is this right for me?'"

Trust your first gut feeling. You know what's best for yourself, so make sure you believe it! "Trust yourself and treat those thoughts that come into your mind with respect and understanding," Char says. "Own them and then follow through with them."
