Valerie Bertinelli
When Rachael was growing up, she was often told that she looked like Barbara Cooper from One Day at a Time. It's been three decades, but now you can judge for yourself when Valerie Bertinelli stops by!
Rachael notices her pedometer, and Valerie admits that the 10,000 steps she has to walk each day are part of a larger goal. "Jenny Craig called me," Valerie shares. "They never quite said I was fat, but I assume if a diet company is calling me, I'm fat!" Having thought about joining for years, Valerie finally took the plunge. "I'm not at my driver's license weight anymore and I'd like to be." She says she enjoys Jenny Craig because, "They don't care about being skinny-minis, they care about health and that's what I wanted." (You can follow Valerie's progress on her Jenny Craig blog.)
Rachael asks Valerie if she was ever affected by comments about her weight while on the popular 70s show. "I think at the time I didn't feel like I was," Valerie says, "because I had really terrific parents and a great family. But, looking back and seeing all the things that I went through -- I look at pictures of me back then and think, my gosh, she's such a cute little girl! But I was told I was chunky and heavy 'You gotta lose this, and you gotta lose that!'"
"Have you missed Hollywood?" Rachael asks. "Have you enjoyed staying home with your son Wolfie all these years?" Valerie tells Rachael that although she continued to act after the birth of her son, it was a picture Wolfie made in kindergarten that led her to become a stay-at-home mom.
