Beer – it’s not just for drinking! We’re showing you how to get that summery feeling from six recipes that incorporate beer, some in very unexpected ways!
No. 1: Marc Murphy's Beer Can Chicken
For this delicious roast chicken, Mark Murphy starts by make an herbed butter which he slathers all over a whole raw chicken. He then slides the chicken over a two-thirds-full can of beer, and stands it up inside a shallow roasting pan, then roasts. Easy-peasy!
Tip: Make sure to dry your chicken well, inside and out, before you add the butter. If it’s wet, the butter will not adhere.
No. 2: Beer-Battered Fish Tacos
The crispy fish pieces that are the centerpiece for these delicious tacos feature a beer batter – yum!
No. 3: Clodagh McKenna's Guinness Cake
It’s kind of shocking to think that beer could be the keystone for a moist, rich and delicious chocolate cake. But Clodagh McKenna’s Guinness cake proves that not only is it possible, it might be preferable to cook desserts with beer.
No. 4: Bratburgers with Onions
Beer is a typical component of Bratwurst. If you want the peppery flavor of brats without having to take the time to stuff the meat into sausage casings, you can make Rachael’s Bratburgers in half the time!
No. 5: Bacon, Beer and Worcestershire Onion Soup with Blue-tons
This French Onion Soup is kicked up with bacon, Worcestershire sauce, beer and smoked blue cheese croutons.
No. 6: Old Bay Beer Battered Cod Sandwiches with Malt Vinegar Slaw
Like the beer-battered fish tacos above, this recipe also uses beer for a light, crispy batter. Rachael adds crispy salt and vinegar potato chips for an extra oomph!
