Our "Bestaurants" series — in which YOU choose the best neighborhood restaurants from across the country — continues!
*drum roll*
Butch McGuire's, the Chicago, Illinois-based, family-owned restaurant that opened in 1961 and has been charming locals ever since, not only for their delicious food but for their amazing, over-the-top holiday decor — and charitable spirit. ❤️
"When we got married, we moved to the neighborhood, and it became our regular spot, year-round but especially during the holidays," says Mary, the woman behind Butch's nomination. "Back then we were part of the late-night crowd, but once we had kids, we became more of the brunch crowd. They make a great Bloody Mary, and they're known for their Eggs Benedict."
And what do they see when they get there? Well, as Bobby McGuire, who took over from his dad Butch, showed us as her gave us a tour of the "saloon," endless strings of Christmas lights, festive mobiles, garland on garland, and toy trains that circle the bar, sponsored by local companies whose donations are then given to Butch's charity of choice, the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
