Driven to Eat Healthy

As a bus driver who has been sitting behind the wheel for 14 years, Terena says it was always hard to find time to eat right and exercise. After years of grabbing fast food and snacks on the go, the 42-year-old eventually found herself weighing 254 pounds. "But I realized I wasn't alone," Terena says, looking back on her unhealthy habits. "My other fellow co-workers were also overweight." She and her colleagues finally found the motivation to do something about their health when they realized the annual state health exam was approaching. "By failing it, we wouldn't be able to drive our buses any longer," Terena shares. So the group decided to make their next stop at the treadmills, and with a free gym program from the school board, they haven't looked back in the rear view mirror since. Today, they motivate each other to keep exercising and to eat healthy, and Terena has lost 25 pounds so far. "I'm proud of what I've accomplished," she smiles.
