Fran Drescher

It's been nearly a decade since Fran Drescher starred in *The Nanny,* but the comedic star is still enjoying some of her character's glamorous fashions. "I kind of helped myself to a couple of wardrobe pieces," she admits. "I'm wearing some boots and things." The series is getting a new push this winter on Nick at Nite, and Fran will be watching. "Even now I TiVo it," she says. "It is my baby, and I still love it and I'm very proud of it." Fran, 51, is a uterine cancer survivor, and is using the experience of being misdiagnosed for two years to encourage others to go for early testing. "I went for seven second opinions and it's a good thing that I did or I'd surely be dead today," Fran says. "If everyone was diagnosed in stage one, almost everybody would live, so our mission motto is stage one *is* the cure." Through her Cancer Schmancer organization, she's raising awareness and lobbying in Washington. "We changed laws. We've already been very instrumental, along with several other special interest groups, in getting a gynecological cancer and awareness act, the first of its kind in U.S. history!" Fran's now taking that message abroad as an ambassador for woman's health, in style of course! She recalls a recent helicopter ride in Kosovo where she felt a little overdressed. "There I am in a Donna Karan outfit with Manolo Blahnik shoes, and they're pushing me on to the Black Hawk helicopter!"
