New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Copeland, who teaches financial basics at UPenn during the off season in his "Life 101" course, explains why he's using his platform to educate young people. "A lot of the financial lessons that I'm teaching people are lessons that I've learned myself, through either good or bad experiences," Brandon says.
In place of a written final exam, Brandon has his class teach personal finance to high school students. "If you can teach budgeting, if you can teach retirement investing, if you can teach how to buy your first house on a high school level, then you probably feel confident teaching that to your mother, your cousin, your neighbor, a friend—someone you're invested in—as well," he says. Speaking of which, the NFL player is taking the course beyond UPenn and making it accessible to anyone who's interested. You can learn more about the Life 101 ecourse here.
