Sarah started blogging about her life as a stay-at-home mom to maintain her connection with the outside world. But the discussion on her site quickly shifted from parenting topics to the things all women love to discuss: hairstyles and hair products. "I polled my audience about whether or not I should [wear] bangs," Sarah recalls. "I really didn't think anyone would really care, but I had over 700 votes!" She realized she was on to something and launched the "Hair Thursday" blog, a community of women who could help each other through the stressful decision of their next haircut. "It's a weekly feature I have on my Website and women write in who can't decide if they need a new hairstyle," Sarah says. "I look at their picture, I send them a questionnaire and then I seek out two different hairstyles for them, and then my readers vote." She includes details about their lifestyles and encourages practical choices. "We're just trying to be real here and give each other advice and share with one another," she adds. "And this polling can be anonymous. It's not like you're sitting across from someone at the table and they ask a question and maybe you don't say exactly what you're feeling." Rachael loves the idea of women helping each other and asks Sarah to try it out with one of her viewers who wants to cut her long, straight hair.
