Among the [Food Legends](/show/segments/view/audience-q-food-legends/) Rachael invites to talk about their careers is chef Sara Moulton, who got her start by perfecting an American staple. "I was slinging burgers in a bar a year out of college in Ann Arbor, Mich. having a great time," Sara recalls. She joins Rach in the kitchen to whip up the bar's signature dish - a spicy mushroom and onion-topped cheeseburger known as the [DET burger](/food/recipes/sara-moultons-det-burgers/). Sara reveals the one ingredient that really puts this dish over the top: Beer! "Any time you add alcohol to a recipe it tastes much better!"
Sara's come a long way from that college bar, going to culinary school, publishing cookbooks and hosting TV shows. She admits it wasn't so natural when she transferred her chef training to a TV studio on shows like, *Cooking Live.* "The first time I stepped in front of the camera, truly, was when I did a pilot for the Food Network and I failed utterly," she jokes. "I never once smiled and my hands never stopped shaking! It was awful; I don't know why they invited me back!"
