Valerie Bertinelli had not worn a bikini in 30 years, but after losing 50 pounds she's showing off her sizzling bikini body on the cover of *People* magazine. "Look at my pal Val!" Rachael exclaims, after seeing Valerie's new Jenny Craig commercial. "Bo Derek has nothing on you. Unbelievable!" Valerie is proud of her weight loss, but admits that it took some extra confidence to let the whole world see her in a two-piece. "I thought, 'I'm too old, I'm too this, I'm too that,'" says Valerie, who had a change of heart. "This is it: You are never too old to accomplish anything - I think [you can do] whatever you want to put your mind to, and for me that particular goal was to get my butt back in a bikini." Valerie stuck to an intense fitness regimen to prepare for the photo shoot. "Here's how much work it was: I gave up my champagne, which I'm never doing again! I stopped drinking and I stuck with my Jenny Craig food, and I worked out two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon for almost a month," she explains. Valerie lost an extra 10 pounds, reaching 123, but is now comfortably stable at 132 with one hour of daily exercise. "I've been working my abs off like crazy, but that's a body anyone can have - seriously," she says. "I found that the key to my success so far [has been partnering up with my fella, Tom.](/show/segments/view/backstage-valerie-and-toms-fitness-tips/) And I think that would help anybody - when you find a friend to help you work out, it always makes it go a little bit faster." When Rachael gives the audience a chance to ask some questions, one fan wants to know how Valerie's teenage son Wolfie reacted to her bikini body. "He actually came by for the end of the shoot and was like, 'Oh wow, you look great!'" Val says, adding that her mom was the first person to call and congratulate her when the magazine hit newsstands. With her family and her fans rooting for her to stay slim, Valerie says she is even "more vigilant" about her program, and has found a solution for avoiding a return to her old eating habits. "I remember how it made me feel," Valerie says, explaining that instead of shopping for a sweet dessert when she gets a craving, "I'll just smell it!"
